Amy
Aalderink is a divorced mom raising four boys: Travis
(9), Brandon (7), Dylan (5) and Logan (3). They currently
live in a two bedroom apartment and are anxious to have
more room to grow and play. Amy is employed by the Butler
Restaurant in Saugatuck. She also attends classes through
Grand Rapids Junior Community College and is hoping
to eventually obtain a Nursing Degree. Her three oldest
boys attend Quincy Avenue Elementary and Logan has fun
at the Early Childhood Center in Zeeland. All the boys
enjoy participating in various sports including swimming,
baseball, and soccer.
Currently Amy is working to complete
250 hours of sweat equity. She does a wonderful job
working at the front desk of the Habitat for Humanity
office every Thursday after-noon. She has also helped
build houses for other Homeowner Partners.
Amy describes herself as "A single
mom with four children, striving to make a better life
for myself and my kids." Owning a Habitat house truly
is a dream come true for Amy and the boys. She explains
that words "can't describe what it means to me and my
boys…prayers have been answered." Not only is Amy committed
to doing whatever it takes to make this dream come true,
she is also interested in learning more about Habitat
and being able to help provide the same opportunity
to future Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity Homeowner Partners.
