Location: Fennville, MI

Scope: 15-17 Homes

Property Type: Single Family Homes & Townhomes

Goal: Start Building in 2028

Fennville Development

Vista Green Neighborhood in Holland, MI.webp

A Neighborhood Built Around Connection

A new neighborhood of affordable Habitat homes is coming to Fennville, made possible by a gift of three acres of land from local resident Lynn Kirkaldy. Her donation honors a promise she and her late husband made to give back to the community they called home.

Located within walking distance of downtown Fennville, the development will provide opportunities for local families and essential community workers to put down roots and build a future in the community they serve. Through this generous gift, Lynn is helping turn a longtime dream into a lasting investment in Fennville's future.

  • Homes will be thoughtfully arranged around shared green spaces designed to bring people together.

  • Front porches and kitchens will overlook a common yard, creating a place where neighbors can connect and parents can watch their children play.

  • We also envision building a shared community space, such as a professionally designed playscape created in partnership with the Outdoor Discovery Center.

  • The property is located within walking distance to local schools and downtown Fennville.

Why This Work Matters Now

Across Ottawa and Allegan counties, the cost of housing continues to rise, placing increasing pressure on working households. For many families, daily life means choosing between paying for housing or covering essentials like food, healthcare, transportation and childcare.

These pressures fall hardest on ALICE households:

Data from the Ottawa County Housing Needs Assessment (Bowen National Research, 2025) shows the great need. Communities in Allegan County, including Fennville, face this same regional pressure—hardworking families priced out of stable, affordable homeownership close to where they already live and work.
